Help & FAQ

Which books can I open?

DRM-free EPUB files, PDFs with a text layer, plain-text files, web articles and any text you paste. Good sources of free books are Project Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks.

Why can't I open a book I bought?

Books from big e-book stores are usually protected by DRM, which only their own apps can open. Biliteral cannot remove DRM.

Translation doesn't start or says it isn't available.

Biliteral uses Apple's on-device translation. The first time you use a language pair, iOS asks to download it; this needs an internet connection once. You can also download languages in Settings → Apps → Translate → Downloaded Languages. After that, translation works offline.

Which languages are supported?

Every pair your device's translation models support, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Turkish, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese. The app itself is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Turkish.

What is free and what does Pro include?

Free: the included sample book, one book of your own up to chapter 3, and 20 flashcard reviews a day. Biliteral Pro unlocks unlimited books and chapters, unlimited reviews and sentence explanations. Choose a one-time Lifetime purchase or a monthly subscription.

I reinstalled the app. How do I get Pro back?

Open Settings → Restore Purchases in Biliteral while signed in with the same Apple Account.

How do I cancel the monthly plan?

Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad and choose Biliteral.
